Tools for the Spiritual Journey

Dog whistle spirituality

Spiritual journey… where?

A spiritual journey can be defined many different ways. For some, it includes a religious “highway” with onramps and offramps and weathered, but solid pavement. For others, they prefer to take the “gravel roads” of esoteric or mystical paths. Some prefer no road at all, perceiving life as a pure-play, material existence.

The spiritual journey, as described by WingMakers, is really none of the above. WingMakers isn’t an organization. It doesn’t have a road or highway. It leans heavily in the direction of the physics of consciousness, but it does so not with the sterile eye of a scientist, but rather the heart of spiritual equality.

James Mahu, the creator of the WingMakers Materials, put it this way in his preface to The Collected Works of the WingMakers Volume I:

Regardless of the many layers, complexity, and scope of these works, there remains a core essence, and this essence is spiritual equality. This is the equality that is found in the deepest layers of the human heart, living free like a mountain stream—uncrystallized and unconformable by social programming or even human experience. You could call this quality of equality many different names. In my own work I’ve endeavored, and, in some cases, struggled, to name it, define it, describe it, compose it or paint it.

This quality of wordlessness and imagelessness is its real essence. How it has survived over thousands of years of persecution by those who would try to own it, enslave it and make it into something it is not, is proof of how carefully it is protected by those who would have you enlightened by its existence. In part, because it is unseen and unspoken, this spiritual equality runs through the DNA of all life as its template of existence—its distillation or quantum essence. It is what survives all time-forms and though it is hidden in the mundane, it is expressible. It can live in our actions. It can have force in our lives. It can become us.

The beauty of this inexhaustible essence is that we—living as human beings—orbit around it like planets to their solar centers. It is this essence that activates us to live a love-centered life and to express the virtues of the heart into our local universe just as the sun expresses its light and energy outward without condition. Spiritual equality is the activator of the highest frequencies of love on earth.

This essence or quality of equality is what is coming to this planet. We are all evolving into it, and it into us, and not necessarily because we are consciously trying or because some all-powerful force is orchestrating it. It is simply a natural outcome of the process that is designed into life. It is the design of an intelligence that arises from our collective sovereign essence. We are all a piece of the design whether we are conscious of it or not.

The people who study WingMakers are practitioners, evolving their personal belief system. They’re seeking ideas, inspirations, perspectives, and accelerations that provides them with a wider/deeper understanding of our complex reality as human beings of the 21st century, and by doing so, bring more meaning into their lives and the world around them.

Tools of perspective

Tools can be inspirational. Sometimes they’re practical. They can provide insight into our core identity and help us express this core identity more clearly and consistently in our everyday life.

The WingMakers tools are really perspectives and practices that are both actionable and profound. They can change the trajectory of a person’s life in such a way that the individual begins to see the deeper layers of reality, and navigate, not just at the surface of life, but also in its depths.

As a philosophy, WingMakers is every bit as influenced by the heart as it is the intellectual perspective. As a body of knowledge, it consists of almost equal parts literature, art, music, poetry, and mythological narrative.

The Roots of WingMakers

James Mahu, the creator, introduced the WingMakers Materials in November 1998 on the wingmakers.com website. For the past two decades he’s continued to release new books, articles, music, art, and even websites.

There’s no hierarchy. There’s no membership fee. There are no rules or directives. There’s no inner or outer circle. No pledges or resolutions. No system by which the individual measures their progress.

WingMakers is, and has always been, one and equal. No exceptions.

James is anonymous, not because he’s trying to hide from people or is uninterested in the social side of the spiritual journey, but rather, because he believes in the sovereign right of the individual to choose without a so-called “master” intervening or assisting.

Getting Started

WingMakers content is wide ranging. The backbone of the mythos is contained in the novel, The Ancient Arrow Project. It’s a great place to start. But many people prefer the art or music because it transcends language and is more immediate and accessible. Another great starting point is the James Mahu interviews, conducted in October 2008.

The term human derives from the Latin conjunction of “homo” (man) and “humus” (earth). Thus a human is an earthly being—descended from earth, as opposed to God or some heavenly abode. The term WingMakers is encoded: “wing” is derived from the term wind or blow. It is the active force of setting new states into motion. “Makers” is the plurality of the co-creators—that being the collective essence of humanity. Thus, WingMakers means that from the collective essence of humanity new states of consciousness come into being. This is the meaning of the term WingMakers, and it confers to humanity a new identity.
